Cuppa Coffee Titles Less Than Kind For Breakthrough Films

Breakthrough films recently enlisted Cuppa Coffee to produce an opening title sequence for LESS THAN KIND, a quirky new show about a dysfunctional Jewish family living in Winnipeg.

According to Cuppa Coffee Broadcast Producer Trevor Hembrey, Breakthrough had already developed an opening using driving shots they took around the city of Winnipeg; "They liked the original footage but weren't happy with the final treatment." Cuppa Coffee Director Ian Tucker came up with a creative solution.

Deadline Hollywood: Sit Down, Shut Up And Walk Out

DEADLINE HOLLYWOOD DAILY blogger Nikki Finke is reporting the 14 WGA writers and writer-producers on Sony's animated SIT DOWN, SHUT UP have walked off the show. It is scheduled to premiere on Fox's Sunday-night animated block this fall.

There is apparently a dispute over who has jurisdiction over the writing staff: the WGA or IATSE, the labor union representing technicians, artisans and craftspersons in the entertainment industry, including live theatre, motion picture and television production, and trade shows.

Fox Reveals Few Surprises In Fall Scheduling

Sci fi series FRINGE and DOLLHOUSE, and animated comedies SIT DOWN, SHUT UP and THE CLEVELAND SHOW will make up the sparse new offerings from Fox this fall.

J.J. Abrams' FRINGE will air in the plum spot after drama HOUSE on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m.

Joss Wheden's DOLLHOUSE won't premiere until midseason to allow continued development, more fallout from the writers strike. Animated entries SIT DOWN, SHUT UP and FAMILY GUY spinoff THE CLEVELAND SHOW will also debut at midseason.

Simpsons Vets Move Up To Sit Down

THE SIMPSONS executive producers Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein will be the executive producers on Fox's new animated comedy SIT DOWN, SHUT UP, per VARIETY.

The duo have also secured a blind script commitment at Sony Pictures Television, which is the studio behind the show.

The hires indicate Fox is close to ordering a series pick-up, something they didn't do after a table read earlier in April.

HIT Signs Smartoonz Distribution Deal

HIT Entertainment announced a strategic distribution and co-production agreement with Smartoonz, a division of Zeppelin Animation to distribute and sell three of its pre-school television shows around the world.

HIT has acquired the distribution rights to LITTLE FABLES, an animated pre-school show targeting 2 to 5 year olds and will co-produce MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO and CLAY PLAY, both of which are slated for delivery in 2009. HIT has also secured first option rights on all future properties from Smartoonz.

In an open letter to the media, SMALLVILLE creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have announced they are leaving the show they started at the end of the current season.

Following hot on the heels of successful premieres on Cartoon Network US and Five UK, Chorion's brand-new series THE MR. MEN SHOW is making its French debut on France 5 on April 12.
