Big Big Challenge Gets Hairy Update

License! Global Magazine's 4th Annual Licensing Challenge, held in conjunction with MIPCOM Jr., was in fact won by two properties, Breakthrough Animation's MY BIG BIG FRIEND and Alphanim's award-winning HAIRY SCARY (52x13 or 26x26). In a story published Monday, AWN identified the former show as the winner, but failed to include co-winner HAIRY SCARY. The complete results were reported in LICENSE! GLOBAL WEEKLY E-NEWS.

Two New Blocks Sprout on PBS

PBS KIDS Sprout (SproutOnline.com), the first and only 24-hour preschool destination available on TV, on demand and online, launched two new original morning blocks, in addition to a new season of its hit program THE GOOD NIGHT SHOW.

The two new morning blocks are MUSICAL MORNINGS, airing every weekday morning from 6:00 am - 9:00 am ET, and THE SUNNY SIDE UP SHOW, airing from 9:00 am - noon ET.

The Art of Digital Show, an international exhibition featuring all forms of digital art, includes digital painting, computer based illustration, digitally manipulated photography, digital video art, fractals and algorithmic imagery, digital manipulations of traditionally created art, digital montages and collages, mixed media with digital elements, computer animation, interactive installations, CGI, etc. The event runs at the Lyceum Theatre Gallery in the historic Gaslamp Quarter of downtown San Diego. Lil' Bush Elected to Second Term

Comedy Central has ordered a second season of the popular animated hit show LIL' BUSH, with the new season set to premiere in spring 2008 with ten new episodes.

"I'm thrilled the show has been picked up," said LIL' BUSH creator and exec producer Donick Cary. "I'm sorry it had to happen in the Minneapolis airport bathroom, but if that's the way Doug Herzog wants to run his company, it's cool with me."

Oban Star-Racers Airs on Japan's NHK BS2

France's Sav! The World Productions has announced that its animated series OBAN STAR-RACERS will be broadcast in Japan on NHK BS2, the satellite channel of Japan's national channel. The show will air Saturday mornings beginning October 6, 2007.

Cartoon Network Orders New Skatoony Series

Cartoon Network announced that it has commissioned a third series of SKATOONY, the animated game show that pits real-life kid contestants against cartoon characters. The re-commission reflects the unprecedented success of the show, which first aired on CN in November 2006. Series two was produced earlier this year and is due to air beginning September 28, 2007.

The news follows CN's recent international distribution deal with Target Entertainment to represent sales of SKATOONY's format and program rights.

Buster Announces Latest Bravo, FX Spots

Buster, a conceptual design studio helmed by Executive Creative Director Jonas Morganstein has announced its latest projects. The company has produced a new main title and graphics package for Bravo's new series starring Tim Gunn titled TIM GUNN'S GUIDE TO STYLE. Buster has also completed new work for FX.

For TIM GUNN'S GUIDE TO STULE, the Buster-produced title combines live footage of Tim Gunn and co-host Veronica Webb, as well as dynamic motion graphics that reflect his classic pinstripe style.

LATV Fall Lineup to Feature Animated Homies Show

LATV Networks has announced an expanded fall programming lineup featuring an additional 10 hours of original first-run content each week, including the first animated HOMIES show based on the worldwide figurine phenomenon created by Dave Gonzales.

LATV will air the exclusive premiere of THE HOMIES HIP-HOP SHOW, a comedic, stop-motion one-hour animated series, on Thursday, September 13. The show will then air on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 pm PT. Each show will consist of eight to 10 sketches interlaced with music videos.

Second Muppet Show Season Now on DVD

Walt Disney Home Ent. raised the curtain earlier this month on THE MUPPET SHOW: SEASON 2 - SPECIAL EDITION on DVD ($39.99). The four-disc set features all 24 digitally remastered and restored episodes from the 1977 season. Jim Henson's irreverent characters romp their way through skits, songs and silliness with such celebrity guest stars as Bob Hope, Elton John, Peter Sellers, George Burns, Julie Andrews and Steve Martin.

MTVN's NOGGIN and The N Channels to Split in Two

As part of MTV Networks' (MTVN) niche programming strategy to super-serve targeted audiences, the award-winning NOGGIN and The N, the two Nickelodeon and MTVN Kids and Family Group brands that currently share space on a single channel, will be separated into two 24-hour services beginning Dec. 31, 2007. NOGGIN will become a commercial-free preschool service, while The N will be a tween/teen channel, featuring TEENick programming during the day and The N's content at night. NOGGIN and The N will be carried by all cable operators, DirecTV, AT&T U-verse and Verizon FiOS.

Homer Simpson Exclusive Guest to Jay Leno Show

Animated father and donut lover Homer Simpson is scheduled to make his exclusive publicity appearance to promote the highly anticipated film, THE SIMPSONS MOVIE, next Tuesday, July 24, 2007, on NBC's THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO.

When asked about what he would be doing during his TONIGHT SHOW debut Simpson said, "I understand I'm doing a monologue, I hope it doesn't involve talking."

The film, opening everywhere July 27, has Homer trying to save the world from a catastrophe he himself created.

Serge Bromberg's Retour de Flamme

Serge Bromberg, artistic director of the Annecy Animation Festival, will host a screening at The Castro Theater at 12:45 pm. Bromberg, who is known in some circles for his work locating and restoring rare silent films, will show his 100-minute program, Retour de Flamme. It includes lots of rare delights, including a lost Charles Bower stop-motion film premiered at Annecy few years ago. This 35mm show will be full of surprises.

PBS Revs Up Its First-Ever Animated Primetime Series

PBS is bringing an animated version of Tom and Ray Magliozzi's CAR TALK radio show to TV. Based on the hit NPR radio show, the as-yet-untitled animated 10x30 sitcom is targeted for summer 2008. Fans will be invited to submit title suggestions for the television show.

The show will focus on the âoff-airâ escapades of Tom and Ray Magliozzi (known to their listeners as Click and Clack, the Tappet brothers) as they try to fix cars, fend off disgruntled customers and seek out ways to do less and less work.

Nicktoons Launches Second Season of 'Secret Show'

Nicktoons will unveil 13 new episodes of THE SECRET SHOW beginning Sunday, July 1, 2007, at 8:00 pm, and in conjunction will debut a new tie-in online game called, SUMMER MARATHON MISSION. Viewers also will get the opportunity to catch up on the first season of the show with a four-hour marathon from 4-8:00 pm. New episodes of the series will air subsequent Sundays at 8:00 pm, with encores Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm.

Lauren Corrao, evp, original programming and development, Comedy Central, announced the network's 2007 and 2008 development slate, which includes an animated project by Larry the Cable Guy.

Projects in development run the gamut from short-form and sketch/variety to scripted narrative and animation starring a cross-section of top comedic talent such as Lewis Black, David Alan Grier, Michael Ian Black, T. Sean Shannon, Larry the Cable Guy and JoKoy and feature top producers including Jamie Tarses, Robert Morton, Max Brooks, Scott Carter and David Sacks, and Jim Biederman.
