David Tench Becomes First Virtual Host

On Aug. 17, 2006, at 8.30 pm (AEST), Australias Network Ten will launch DAVID TENCH TONIGHT, a new talk show featuring an animated talk show host, reports SMH.com. The show was created by ENOUGH ROPE presenter Andrew Denton and his production company, Zapruder's Other Films.

Using motion capture and digital enhancement technologies, digital host David Tench will interview real people in realtime. Like other talk show hosts, viewers will watch Tench perched behind a desk, interviewing his guests live in a studio.

Penn & Teller to Host Creative Arts Emmy Awards Show Aug. 19

Comedy magic duo, Penn & Teller will host the 2006 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Aug. 19, 2006, at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, which is not part of the Emmy awards network broadcast on Aug. 27.

In addition, Spike Jones Jr., along with exec producers Michael A. Hoey and John Moffitt will return to produce the show, as a team, for the ninth year.

Best Of Animation Show to Screen at Comic-Con

MTV and The Animation Show will host a special screening of THE BEST OF ANIMATION SHOW at Comic-Con on July 22, 2006 at 9:00 pm in Room 6CDEF. THE BEST OF ANIMATION SHOW is a feature-length compilation of the best animated short films in the world. The film is co-produced and created by Mike Judge (OFFICE SPACE, BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD, KING OF THE HILL) and acclaimed animator Don Hertzfeldt, whose 2001 REJECTED was nominated for an Academy Award.

For MTV2s new SicEmation lineup, Cuppa Coffee and Six Point Harness have provided work on the new CELEBRITY DEATHMATCH and WHERE MY DOGS AT? respectively.

As the largest stop-motion studio in North America, Cuppa Coffee was brought on board by MTV2. It was important to keep the feel of the original series and build on that to offer a slicker sharper looking show, explains series director Andrew Horne. Of course we wont stray far from what makes the show funny; blunt force trauma.

A52 Earns First VFX Honors at AICP Show

Los Angeles vfx and design company A52 was honored for the first time in the visual effects category by the AICP Show for last year's Nike Golf KID TIGER broadcast spot from Wieden+Kennedy.

The presentation of the 15th Annual AICP Show was held June 8 by the Assoc. of Independent Commercial Producers at New York's Museum of Modern Art.

MJZ topped the list of honored production companies in the 15th Annual AICP Show, The Art & Technique of the American Commercial, presented by the Association of Independent Commercial Producers, tonight (June 8, 2006). Close to 2,000 members of the advertising and production industry gathered to view the show, an hour and 22-minute compendium of the best commercials of the previous year, which premiered at The Museum of Modern Art, and now goes on tour to museums and cultural institutions around the country and abroad.

American Dad Gets 22 More Episodes

Fox has greenlit 22 additional episodes of AMERICAN DAD, extending the shows run through the 2007-08 TV season, reports the trades. In the fall, the series will move to the coveted timeslot following THE SIMPSONS.

"It's definitely a good show of faith," said exec producer Mike Barker. "From a writing standpoint, we feel there's certainly a lot of things left to explore in our characters. We never realized there'd be so many layers to a right-wing, conservative father.

Cartoon Network Creates World’s First Animated/Live-Action Game Show

Cartoon Network U.K. is producing SKATOONY, the worlds first animated game show with real life kid contestants. It is scheduled to premiere in October 2006.

Hosted by animated characters Chudd Chudders and The Earl, the 13x30 series is animated entirely in-house by the Cartoon Network team at its London headquarters. Each week real-life and cartoon contestants will play each other through three rounds of challenges, with the final contestant taking everything in an against-the-clock challenge.

Animal Logic Wins Best in Show at Mobius Awards

Animal Logic, Sydney, NSW, with George Patterson Y&R in Melbourne and Plaza Films, Sydney, has won Best of Show in Television at the 2005 international Mobius Advertising Awards. They won for "Big Ad," created for Carlton Draught of Fosters Australia.

Animal Logic used 3D software to create the many extras needed to create the commercial, which is reminiscent of a pending battle of epic proportions. Animal Logic also provided the visual effects for five Mobius winners.

Animation Show 3 Now Accepting Submissions

The Animation Show a collection of the world's greatest animated short films is now accepting submissions for its third season. Personally programmed by co-producers Mike Judge (BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD, KING OF THE HILL, OFFICE SPACE) and Academy Award-nominated animator Don Hertzfeldt, the show aims to celebrate and showcase independent animation via the theatrical, DVD and television markets.

The deadline for theatrical submissions is July 1, 2006.

Gallery Show Of Art Created By NYC Animators Opens In NYC

Friday the 13th in January 2006 was far from unlucky for New York Citys animation community. On that date, Too Art for TV, the first gallery show of art created by New York animators opened at the Stay Gold Gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
