Client Accquisition for Explainer video company

Hi Guys,

I am a business dev manager for a explainer video production studio. We are more a work in progress as me and a college buddy started this business about 3 years ago. We are a very small outfit with just 5 employees and most of the clients we have accquired are from our videos on our youtube channel and facebook page.

Since we are based in India, its not possible for me to physically visit clients in the US and cold calling doesnt seem to work very well. I have tried advertising campaigns on adwords and facebook but they have not been very successful.

Future of Remote Work in Animation?

Hi All,

I have a general question about how some business owners view working with remote contractors. I've been a professional independent contractor fulltime for about a year, but I've been doing freelance on the side for about seven years while I've had other creative industry jobs.

So, if you've used a remote contractor, how was the experience for you?

Would you hire remote again? Why or why not?

What was nice about it?

What wasn't?

Thanks!

Color Stylist VS. Other Pre-production positions

By awne0veam0 | Friday, October 16, 2015 at 1:46pm

Hello!

I've been wondering about the differences between color stylists and other pre-production positions as far as job security and payment.  I am well aware of what a color stlylist does but am not quite clear where they fit in regards to pecking order.  Is being a color stylist a good way to get your foot in the door, or an excellent job to stay and grow in?  Any input would be helpful.

Cheers!

The old, tired question of college or no college...

By Kendra C | Friday, October 16, 2015 at 1:44pm

I realize this question has been beat to death but I wanted an honest account of how big of a deal an animation degree is. The reason I say honest is that every animation job I have seen says they require either a degree or relevant work experience.

For not needing a degree, these applications sure are making it sound like you need one...

Do I have what it takes for a school such as Gobelins or The Animation Workshop

By DavidOsg | Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 6:58pm

Hi everyone. I am currently a freshman enrolled in a state school with a very small animation program, but I am interested in transferring to an animation school. I want to work at animation studios and do 2d animation and hopefully eventually become a storyboard artist or director, and I am trying to figure out what's the best way for me to break into the industry.

Inquiry regarding 30second to 1 minute animated video

By hz | Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 11:48pm

Hi everybody,

We are creating a "feature" video for our website that is animated and shows off the features of the website.  We are looking for something like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=81&v=rK6WLHNYjwM

How much would something like this cost to create?  As said in the title the video would be 30s to 1 minute.  Thank you in advance!

Animation job - 2 minute "silent" 2d animation

Hi, I am looking for someone, who can draw and animate my book trailer.

It should end up being two minutes long (or shorter, but I don't see how I can cut it any further).
There won't be any talking in the animation (excapt a couple of screams and gasps)
I am not sure if it nessesarily needs to be in color, or if it should just be black and white and very sketchy - I would like your input on this.

How much would I need to pay an animator?

By Marta | Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 9:07am

Hi, everybody!

I'm planning to create short - very, incredibly short, less than three minutes - 3d animated movie. It would be a gift for a person, so I would not commercialize it in any way (the thing I could do would be uploading it on the web, someday, but that's that).

Not being too acquainted with the animation industry in itself, I don't know how much it would cost. I'd need to have it done by September at the latest - the best option would be August, though.

Illustrator or Animator or both? (Advice please)

By samiam | Monday, May 4, 2015 at 8:43am

Hi:

I am the founder of a new start up who is quickly trying to get up to speed on all relevant animation topics and to hire some people to help create our products. However, I am confused as to exactly which  set of skills I should be seeking.

We will be creating a library of very simple 2D animations (similar in style to headspace.com) with a family of animals talking to each other. The focus is on the facial expressions and lip synching, as we are mostly helping people with their communcation skills.

Looking to subcontract a 2D-based animation studio.

By Dan Lloyd | Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 9:15am

I work for Element Animation, a small animation team with a huge audience (1.6 Million at the time of this post). We're looking to expand our content. Animation takes a very long time as you all know and our audience aren't fans of waiting around. So we're looking to have a secondary series (2-3 minute episodes) created to run alongside our own in-house episodes on our YouTube Channel. To do this, we need to subcontract another studio to take on the new series.

VR Company Looking for Talented 3D Animators !!!

By genhoneyVR | Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 11:51pm

Hi all, I work for HoneyVR, a virtual-reality content distributor which is looking for talented CG artists to create pre-rendered VR content. We are looking to acquire short pre-rendered (90s - 3mins) animated content which is VR-ready, which basically means rendered as a 360-degree spherical MPEG-4 (2:1 aspect ratio, equirectangular rendering). We're looking for short films but also what we call short 'experiences' -- think short, immersive VR experiences like guiding the user through a high-res galaxy, tagging along with a frog in a rainforest, etc.

Questions regarding 2D animation

By BMassed | Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 7:34am

~Great ideas are easy, perfect ideas are a game changer.

Hello AWN, I have stumbled upon this site while thinking about a animation series.

To start a animation project (Japanese tradition anime style) what would my budget be?

-Voice Actors
-Actual animation
-FX

Or being a independent author, would I simply pay a studio to make my show? (Such as Production IG, or another animation studio?)

Or if I get enough attention for my show, will they produce it in hopes of publics interest?

If I were to need to crowdfund this, how much would be needed to be raised for someone without any startup?
