I got accepted to Grad School

By talent103 | Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at 5:22am

I Just got accepted to New York University for a Master of Science in Digital Imaging and Design. This is like a whole new start for me and I am really happy and excited. I have been lurking around these forums posting questions from time to time about schools. Last year I was not accepted to any grad schools applied to 3 of them but I worked on my portfolio this year and only applied to NYU this year and I got accepted. :)

Someone help i'm lost

can anyone help me i'm 18 and ready to get out of highschool but have no idea what to do i have been interested in animation for sometime now but have done nothing abou it. I really love to draw and can spen time drawing, drawing and drawign some more. i aslo spend alot of time on my computer so i'm really good with computers. So what do you need to become an animator do you need to go to any community colleges, or just straight to a college that offers animation? also how much could a bachelors degree in animation cost?

Portfolio advice

By Gamirk | Thursday, May 20, 2004 at 2:36pm

This may be redundant...but

i'm a junior art major undergrad and this fall i'll be putting together my portfolio for grad school applications. I'm going to be applying to 3d animation programs but i really have no clue as to what i should be doing right now for my portfolio. I'm really starting with scratch because i'm getting started so late (i'm skipping a year of undergrad and i didnt switch to an art major until this past year! eep!)

criteria of a character's appeal

By flip | Friday, May 14, 2004 at 6:12am

I currently write my master thesis in animation about appeal in characters and therefor do a survey among animation people.
Anyone willing to answer those questions will be great help for my research.

In my research I investigat how the concept of a character developed in the character development process is influencing the different aspects of a character and form it's identity. I am analyzing which characteristics form an appealing character and how they integrate.

Approaching Animation Companies

Hi, This is my first post on here...what a great site!

I have graduated with a Diploma in Multimedia, which (as the name indicates) covered a very broad spectrum of subjects. The trouble with the course is that I didn't gain indepth training in anything in particular. I used 3D Studio Max and Flash (among other programs) but I wouldn't feel confident approaching an employer with my knowledge base. The course did have a good traditional art and and art theory component, and I came to the course with traditional art skills too.

Resumes: Do they work for animators ?

By Norm_Drew | Sunday, May 9, 2004 at 11:49pm

RESUMES

How many animators out there nailed more projects and jobs with resumes than without resumes?

How many studio execs. place more importance on resumes than demos?

Do you lend equal weight to both?

How many animators nailed projects/jobs without resumes, only on the strength of their demos and portfolio samples?

How many nailed projects/jobs by demonstrating their skills through test scene auditions?

Seeking artists for "adult" project

Hey guys, I'm starting a site I hope to have up by the beginning of August. It is going to be targeted at adults (There will be a payed members section to access explicit content). Still working on the business model. But right now I am just trying to gather art and build an artist pool. I'm not just looking for hentai/anime styles, I am looking for all styles.

The way this will work:

I will accept submissions from artists (I'll probably build some web interface to make the process easy) in the form of:
