The Business of Animation

Advice

By Violeta | Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 1:34pm

Hi all!

I am a traditionally trained senior animator with more than 10 years in the animation industry. I've been working with Flash for 7 years in Toronto. I've been away from the industry since 2011 taking care of my 3 daughters and will be going back to work within the next few years.

I've been recently thinking on switching to story-boarding. I've been doing some research and asked some of my former colleagues to try to figure whether this could be the right job for me. My idea is to work freelance, from home.

Animation Creationz - The New Video Community for Animated Shorts That Pays You!

Earn Per View For Your Animated Short Films! http://animationcreationz.com/

Hello everyone!

I was recently looking into options for animators of short films to make revenue from these films. However, it seems that the only way to really make revenue is through the Youtube Partnership Program, however that pays less than great and requires a high amount of views to make reasonable income from it.

This is where I, and Animation Creationz, comes in.

Looking for free animators

By Tyler | Friday, May 16, 2014 at 8:43pm

Hello, I am currently working on a flash animation series and was wondering who would gladly like to volunteer. I myself know the basics of flash animating, but I'm trying to gain more knowledge of flash animation by those who are experienced. Keep in mind that this project is NON-PROFIT! NO MONEY WILL BE INVOLVED, IT IS SIMPLY FOR ENTERTAINMENT! If you would like to contact me, please go to my FaceBook business page, my email is included also. Thank you for reading and I hope to obtain great support soon!

Available animated content distribution options for independent studios

By Petertos | Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 4:54am

Hi all,

first of all, congratulations for the new site design.

Second, I'm looking for options to distributing my content online. The 'content' are traditional animation series about 20' long each. I live in Spain, and I have some distribution options there, but I'm looking for a platform that could help me deliver that content worldwide (or at least Europe, North America and Australia) as the content is in English. Everything excepting female voices is done by me, including music, scripts, animation...

How to get an animation job - perspective from animator and now studio head

Hi all. I run a small animation studio and have worked at Activision and Rhythm & Hues as an artist. A few days ago a HS senior asked me where she should go for her art education, she wanted to be an animator or game designer. I know that's really broad, but she had gotten into many top art schools and was genuinely excited about her future career.

How tiny are those tiny Adult Swim budgets?

From what I've gathered, an animated show usually demands a budget of around $200k USD per episode. And everyone who mentions this tends to bring up the infamous low budgets of Adult Swim shows.

I'm looking for any hard data on this- what were those budgets?

I'd love to see anything I can get get my hands on, but I am specifically curious about the budgets for Sealab 2021 season one and Aqua Teen Hunger Force season one (I am assuming these were among the cheapest).

When it comes to cable animation- where is the floor, budget wise?

Animator for music video required (initially unpaid, royalty to be agreed)

Hi
I'm posting on behalf of the prog-rock band 'Multifuse'. With their second album 'Hoo' due for release early this year, Multifuse are looking for an animator to produce a video for the first single to be taken from the album.
Multifuse are a band looking to breakthrough, so there is no budget for the work, but they are prepared to negotiate a royalty for the commercial use of the work.

Although there is a theme to be included in the animation, the selected animator will have a high degree of creative control of the project.
