Painting/inking on Acetate

By Jeff1011 | Monday, August 27, 2012 at 1:19pm

Hi everyone-

I wanted to ask you all about drawing on acetate paper. I want to make some "fan cels"--that is, replacing an anime frame in a cel format. What are the suggested inking pens/paints to outline and color acetate paper? I know you have to be careful since water-bases won't stick. I would like it to look something like this (style-wise)

3D Animation Services Offered

By jgombe | Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 3:53pm

My name's Justin and I'm a classically trained animator who specializes in the production of 3D animated videos.

Although my focus is predominantly character animation, I am involved in every stage of the production pipeline (from rough animatics through to final render, compositing, and editing). For the past 10 months I have been working for a client that educates businesses about information security through the use of short animated scenarios (typically 2-4 mins).

Freelance Animator Wanted

I am looking for an animator to work with me in making an educational DVD (30 minutes long) with a look kind of like Calliou:

I plan to make about 8 different DVDs total down the road and plan to mass market it internationally. I have the script and a basic visual concept. I live in NY -- not sure if that matters or not. If you are interested in working with me, please let me know. Thank you!

Visiting L.A.

By TarosMyr | Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 10:45am

Hi all,

I am a writer looking to work in animation and comedy. I'll be visiting the City of Angels for the first time later this month, and I'm just reaching out to you to see if there's anything that I can do while I'm there to be productive in meeting people, making contacts, etc. I do have a few meetings already set-up with friends and acquaintences, but am looking to pick a few brains with those that have made some headway (or aspiring to). Not many workshops or other industry events I've found between May 21 and May 25 so far.

Great way to promote yourself, make money, build up your portfolio and attract new clients. Small order leads to big orders right?

By Bluman | Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 2:01pm

I really want to be a writer/story artist at an animation studio, but I'm not sure how to get my foot in the door. I have some questions and would really appreciate any advice.

1. What do I include in a portfolio / demoreel for this position?
2. Is story artist an entry level position?
3. Do I have to live in San Francisco or LA before I could get a job there?

Thank you so much for the help!
