18 year old getting started in the industry

Hi everyone, my name is Scott. I'm currently 18 years old, and a senior in a high school located in the suburbs of Detroit.  A little background information on me, is that i've been animating for about 5 years now, starting in Mine-I-Mator (A minecraft animation program) then going into Cinema 4D after a couple weeks of that and using Cinema 4D for a couple years. I am now learning AutoDesk Maya, which I heard is industry standard, and it's my favorite program so far to use.

Hello, I have a few questions for some experts here.

It's no secret that Koreans have been behind some of the hugest animations that come from the US and Japan. But nowadays some of them are having more of a voice. Studio Mir has released a new pilot for their original series, Naver's Line Webtoon section has founded an animation studio last year, and an animation movie of the webtoon "Bad Boss" has also been released this year.

Should I choose 2D or 3D?

By animuser | Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 6:56pm

Hello everyone,

I need your help with an important decision I have to make. I’m planning to dedicate the next 6 months to improve my skills in animation to then start applying for jobs, but I can’t decide between 2D or 3D animation. I know that thousands of similar questions have been asked before, but let me explain why I can’t decide:

(Profits share) Looking for Character Animator, Game Prototype

By Matteo | Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 12:08pm

Hello Everyone,
We are a team of two (C# Game-play Programmer, Cinematic Designer/Generalist) working on an independent cinematic story driven game.

Currently we are focusing on prototyping the core features of the game in a short playable level, for which we really need to find someone that could take care of rigging and animations.

Storyboard cost insight Help

I have an anime style series I'm trying to start working on. The problem is, the person I went to in order to do the storyboards for the first episode priced me at $3,000 for about 15 mins of storyboards (not including opening and ending). $3,000 isn't something I can afford even with the payment plan the person factored in.

My question is, is there anyone out there who could do the style I'm looking for for the storyboards that would be less than $3,000 but still an appropriate pay amount or have a decent more affordable payment plan if anything?

I have created 3 feature length animated films, a 7-minute animated short, several other 1-minute shorts as well.

If you have an idea for a feature animated film/anime or series email me.  You must have a budget or access to funding is a must.  Please only series inquiries only, must have funding/budget.

I do animated features for $90k.  For animated series, I need to know how many episodes and how long.

What Should You Be Expecting to Earn as an Animator?

Hi!

I'm a character animator currently working in Sydney Australia! (I joined this site so I could see if anyone here could help me with this topic. Hopefully I am in the right discussion thread!)

Just a little while ago I passed the mark where I can say I have been working a year as an animator in the film and media industry.

I have no idea what pay to expect at this stage as most of my friends work in other professions.

A year ago I would have accepted any work at any rate in order to get some experience.

Do jobs for 2D frame by frame animation still exist?

By Skele | Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 4:40am

Hi everybody!

Im rather new here so i hope im posting at the right place.

I wonder if somebody could tell me if a careere in fram by fram animation in 2D would still be possible (in europe) or if i should rather focus on 3d animation and 2d animation with a rig (i think its called spline animation in english).

I really love animating frame by frame in 2D but i honestly dont know if it would be a lost caus to start a careere in it.

I hope somebody here could give me some insight on that :D

Greetings
Skele
