The 20th edition of Animest Bucharest International Animation Festival, the only Oscar qualifying event in Romania, will take place October 3-12, 2025.
Romania’s only Oscar qualifying festival dedicated to animated film, Animest International Animation Film Festival, returns to Bucharest October 3-12, 2025. The event, founded in 2006, brings together short and feature films from across the world in six competitive categories. It also boasts retrospectives while focusing on various countries, animation studios, and film schools. The event is the only Oscar qualifying animation competition in Romania
Every year the festival welcomes international filmmakers, producers, festival programmers and journalists to Bucharest for a lineup of workshops, masterclasses, special events, concerts, and parties.
