The Stuttgart Festival of Animation wrapped up May 1, 2007, with the presentation of its prize winners. Simone Massi's short film, THE MEMORIES OF DOGS, took home the grand prize. On the TV side, TV-Loonland and The Illuminated Film Co.'s THE LITTLE PRINCESS was awarded the top prize. In the feature category, AZUR ET ASMAR by Michel Ocelot garnered the award.

Bit Blot's dreamlike 2D underwater adventure game AQUARIA won top honors, collecting the $20,000 Seumas McNally Grand Prize for Best Independent Game, at the 2007 Independent Games Festival (IGF) Awards.

The winners were announced tonight at the 9th Annual IGF Awards ceremony, hosted by the Game Developers Conference (GDC) at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.

While CARS raced away with the top Annie Award on Sunday, Feb.11, 2007, Randy Newman picked up the award for "Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media" for "Our Town" from CARS at the 2007 Grammys. The film's album lost the "Best Compilation Soundtrack Album" award to WALK THE LINE and Bob Dylan took home "Best Solo Rock Vocal" award over John Mayer's "Route 66" for the animated Pixar film. ComBOTS AG and fmx -- International Conference for Animation, Effects, Realtime and Content collaborate by establishing the "ComBOTS/fmx Award" to be staged for the first time in 2007. The award winners will be presented at the fmx/07 in Stuttgart in May. Graphics artists and studios can now request the detailed award specifications under www.combots.com/fmx-award. Up to the closing date on March 30, 2007, they can submit their entry of animated characters to compete for one of the attractive main prizes. The winner will be awarded a production contract for a ComBOTS Collection.

WALLACE AND GROMIT: THE CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT has won another BAFTA award, picking up the Feature Film award at The British Academy Children's Film and Television Awards in association with Electronic Arts. The film, which also won the British Film BAFTA at the Film Awards earlier this year, beat THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST to the honor.

John Lasseter has been chosen to receive the 2006 Infinite Power of Story Lifetime Achievement Award at LMUs School of Film and Televisions Film Outside the Frame Festival, Oct. 9.

The honor being given to Lasseter, cco of Pixar and Disney Animation Studios and principal creative advisor, Walt Disney Imagineering, is part of the celebration for Film Outside the Frame Festival, which will showcase and award selected outstanding student work from the past year at SFTV.

At Comic-Con, the Oscars of the comicbook industry the Will Eisner Aewards were handed out. BUFFY creator Joss Whedon took home one of the top prizes for his work on ASTONISHING X-MEN in the Best Continuing Series award.
