The bros are back in town! Joe and Anthony Russo (Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame) are in talks with Marvel Studios to direct Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars, the two-part theatrical conclusion to the MCU Multiverse Saga, according to Variety.

The Russo Bros. would be filling the role vacated by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) in 2023. Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine) was most recently in talks to helm the projects, but ultimately passed. Michael Waldron will pen the screenplay for Avengers 5, while Secret Wars does not currently have a writer attached.

In addition to Infinity War and Endgame, the brothers also directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Captain America: Civil War. If the duo does accept the role, they could hopefully renew some of the franchise’s original spirit, which seems to be missing in recent installments.
