The ‘What If…?’ head writer steps in for previous writer/producer Beau DeMayo, who was mysteriously let go earlier this year, just weeks ahead of the Emmy nominated series’ Season 1 premiere.
The show must go on! Matthew Chauncey (What If…?) has been tapped to pen the upcoming third season of X-Men ’97, according to Deadline. The animated series lost writer/producer Beau DeMayo earlier this year, when the creative was mysteriously axed just weeks ahead of its premiere. DeMayo had already completed scripts for Season 2 and was discussing Season 3 plots.
X-Men ’97, nominated for an Emmy this past Tuesday, takes audiences back to the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and an unexpected new future.
The voice cast includes Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, JP Karliak as Morph, Lenore Zann as Rogue, George Buza as Beast, AJ LoCascio as Gambit, Holly Chou as Jubilee, Isaac Robinson-Smith as Bishop, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, and Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler.
Jake Castorena directs. Featuring music by The Newton Brothers, the series is executive produced by Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Victoria Alonso.
X-Men ’97 Season 1 streams now on Disney+.
