With 21st Century Fox now under the Disney roof, sitting alongside Marvel, the ‘X-Men’ franchise is ripe for a reboot, and ‘Deadpool 3’ may just be the best place for a surprise introduction.
News about everyone’s favorite Merc with a Mouth keeps on coming! We recently reported that Deadpool 3 will be penned by sister team Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, the brilliant minds behind Bob’s Burgers. Since Disney’s takeover (i.e., gutting and renaming) of 21st Century Fox, rumors have been flying that Marvel is eager to reboot X-Men (and Fantastic Four, rumored to get an introduction in Antman 3). While the plot of Deadpool 3 is still unknown, the newest film in the franchise may introduce Marvel’s X-Men in some capacity, officially ending the popular Fox version of the franchise. As long as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Collosus, and adorable Yukio stay, our bodies are ready for a new team.
Fans are still speculating whether the title will remain ‘R’ now that Disney holds the reigns, as the rating was a huge draw for fans of the first two films. A rating change would alienate the core audience, and with an 18+ section reportedly coming to Disney+, it’s doubtful Deadpool 3 will be any less raunchy than we have come to expect. It seems like everyone involved is giving the beloved franchise some serious maximum effort.
