Cyber Group Studios Ordered to Liquidate

The French animation studio behind ‘Gigantosaurus’ will be shuttered, with assets sold off to repay creditors, despite four promising bids to acquire the company.

4/30/25 Update: A Productions contacted AWN to let us know that though Cyber Group Studios is a shareholder of A Productions, they are not part of nor entering the liquidation. The remainder of the shares are owned by Katherine McQueen and Mark Taylor, joint managing directors of A Productions. In a statement sent to AWN, McQueen and Taylor said, “As an independently run studio, A Productions continues to be in a secure financial position with a robust pipeline of shows and a bright future ahead. We are actively seeking the reacquisition of the proportion of our shares held by Cyber Group Studios to return to 100% independent ownership and hope to conclude this as soon as possible.”

The Paris Commercial Court has ordered Cyber Group Studios (Gigantosaurus) to be liquidated, with assets to be sold off to repay creditors, according to Kidscreen. The studio had been in judicial recovery since November of last year, with a deadline of April 30 to recover financially or liquidate and repay.

Prior to the liquidation ruling, Cyber Group received takeover offers from Hildegarde, Solent Productions, Newen Studios, and a joint-venture between United Smile, Toonz Media Group, and Atlas Global. Unfortunately, the bids were disregarded in court.

Christine Blériot, the previous Cyber Group SVP of marketing and licensing, took to LinkedIn to say, “I am shocked by this hasty liquidation and… incomprehensible waste.”

The news comes just two years after Cyber Group announced an expansion of its leadership team.
