The new animated film from the Oscar-nominated ‘Mirai’ and ‘Belle’ director, which follows a princess who can transcend time and space, hits theaters globally outside Japan on December 12.
Sony Pictures has announced that the upcoming Mamoru Hosoda (Belle, Summer Wars) animated film Scarlet will debut in movie theatres December 12. Hosoda is best known for his most recent film, Belle (2021), as well as his Oscar-nominated Mirai (2019).
The film follows a princess who has the power to transcend time and space. Additional plot and casting details remain under wraps.
Sony Pictures co-produces and finances the film with Studio CHIZU and Nippon TV. Sony Pictures will distribute Scarlet globally, with Toho distributing theatrically in Japan. Yuichiro Saito and Nozomu Takahashi produce for Studio CHIZU alongside Toshimi Tanio for Nippon TV. Hosoda writers and directs.
