‘Alphablocks’ Animated Educational Series Returns to CBeebies

The phonics-focused series is back with its first full season since 2013, sporting fresh visuals and advanced phonics curriculum designed for young learners.

BBC Children’s and Education, Alphablocks Ltd, and Blue Zoo Animation Studio have teamed to bring back the phonics-focused series Alphablocks as part of the expanding Numberblocks and Friends universe.

The educational series returns to CBeebies with a fresh visual upgrade and advanced phonics curriculum designed for young learners. The reboot marks the first full season since 2013, following the Alphablocks-Numberblocks crossover specials in 2022.

The new series maintains the show's signature charm while introducing more complex phonics concepts, helping children master reading fundamentals through engaging storylines and musical elements. Each episode features enhanced animation.

“We're over the moon to bring Alphablocks to a new generation.” said Oli Hyatt. “The show's proven educational approach, combined with modern animation techniques, creates an ideal learning environment for today's children. The Blocks brand content is used in 90% of UK primary schools and these educational animations have revolutionized early learning to such an extent that the national curriculum has adapted to match children's enhanced capabilities.”

Alphablocks premiered February 10 on CBeebies, and will also be released on BBC iPlayer.

Elsewhere in the ‘Blocks-verse, Wonderblocks premiered on CBeebies last month.
