New functionality empowers IT and DevOps teams to automate preparation and deployment of customized ‘build candidate’ virtual machine images to any network connected machine from a single unified and user-friendly interface.
Today, Ravel Inc (formerly StratusCore) introduced its new “Bare Metal Build Station” functionality, which empowers IT and DevOps teams in SMBs or enterprises to prepare and deploy customized images to any physical machine connected to a network. Ravel notes “Bare Metal Build Station is the only software-based, hardware-agnostic solution on the market that provides this functionality within a unified and user-friendly interface.”
The new release complements its existing software-defined infrastructure (SDI) capabilities, an approach to managing IT infrastructure (compute, networking, and storage) via software. It helps companies manage large, diverse hardware infrastructures by automating management and deployment of tailored OS, software, drivers, fonts, and other necessary files and configurations, reducing time needed to scale or modify operations.
“We could not be more thrilled about this new functionality,” said Ravel CEI Denise Muyco. “For so long, the deployment of software across bare metal in any enterprise has been a time-consuming, manual process. With Bare Metal Build Station, that ends. Our easy-to-use solution saves a tremendous amount of time, reduces errors, and enables teams to deploy images how they want, when they want, and on any infrastructure. Additionally, Bare Metal Build Station is the perfect complement to Ravel Orchestrate's existing AWS and Azure cloud-based Build Station, providing a comprehensive and versatile deployment solution across different environments.”
Bare Metal Build Station Highlights:
- Unified Interface: From a single interface, it allows users to easily create and customize local virtual machine images or “Build Candidates” to include a tailored OS, software, drivers, fonts, and other necessary files and configurations.
- Seamless Transformation: It facilitates export and transformation of Build Candidates into hardware-compatible, bootable images, ensuring seamless deployment without compatibility issues.
- Automated Distribution: It automatically configures distribution based on the infrastructure information, and controls the deployment of images to physical machines, eliminating manual setup.
- Intelligent Error Trapping: The built-in error trapping capabilities ensure that compatibility errors are caught during setup and options for resolution are provided.
- Scheduled Deployment: Together with Ravel Orchestrate’s “Scheduler,” Bare Metal Build Station broadcasts bootable images to compatible machines at scheduled times. The images are then automatically installed, ensuring on-time, precise deployment to any number of machines while optimizing network usage.
Ravel Orchestrate’s Bare Metal Build Station is now in private beta. More information is available here. The Ravel team will be at SIGGRAPH 2024 in Denver, CO between July 28 - 31.
