Leading VFX and post-production studio joins more than a dozen production companies that have opened facilities in Las Palmas, taking advantage of local film production incentives.
Platige Image, a leading VFX and post-production studio, has just opened a new facility in the Canary Islands. Their new Las Palmas operation joins over a dozen companies that have already opened branches there, taking advantage of the local film production incentive and support framework which, according to the studio, are crucial in attracting international VFX vendors and productions.
The new office will be tasked with acquiring film and TV series projects, with a heavy emphasis on VFX production. Platige Image is internationally renowned for its VFX work on shows like The Witcher, Shadow and Bone, and Obliterated for Netflix.
The Canary Islands are now offering rebates and tax credits (up to 50%) to businesses and individuals investing in the local film industry, with the effort designed to attract filmmakers from all over the globe. "Given the financial incentives and the sheer number of attractive locations available, the Islands are well on their way to becoming one of Europe's prime spots for film production," says Karol Żbikowski, the CEO of Platige Image.
Working together with over 300 specialists from around the world, including supervising producers, animators, and award-winning directors and art directors, the studio delivers comprehensive production services for film projects around the world. By opening the new branch, the studio is looking to boost its VFX and CGI portfolio, ensuring continued growth and new work on global productions while leveraging the financial incentives offered by the Islands.
“We've been a part of the film industry for years,” says Jarosław Szewko, co-founder and executive producer at Platige Image. “And we've been thinking of such a move for quite some time now. I believe that the right moment has finally come.”
