Bill Skarsgård and FKA Twigs star in the modern reimagining of James O’Barr’s graphic novel, in theaters June 7.

It’s about time! Lionsgate has dropped first look images from The Crow, a modern reimagining of the graphic novel by James O’Barr. The long-gestating film, which has been in the works for over a decade with a revolving door of creatives attached, is finally on track.

In the film, soulmates Eric Draven (Bill Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.

Also starring are Danny Huston, Laura Birn, Jordan Bolger, and Isabella Wei as Zadie. Rupert Sanders directs from a script by Zach Baylin and William Schneider. Edward R. Pressman produces alongside Samuel Hadida, Victor Hadida, John Jencks, and Molly Hassell.

The otherworldly VFX are created by Clear Angle Studios and Scanline VFX.

The Crow swoops into theaters June 7.
