DH Institute of Media Arts is currently accepting submissions for our January gallery exhibit. There will be two themed categories for submitted works. The first category, an anime character in a Valentine themed setting. The second category submission is for an original game character design. Works should be submitted on 8.5"x11" workspace, either mounted on a isplay board or matted frame.

High School Student Portfolio Preparation Class

Presented by Armory Center for the Arts, this class is for high school students getting ready to apply to art school. Students will create a body of work that reflects their individuality. They will increase technical and foundation skills in drawing and painting from observation. In addition, students will become more proficient in a variety of art media: charcoal, pastels, acrylic paint. They will develop their artistic voice and personal style through experimentation. Finally, they will learn how to edit their artwork and present a portfolio in an appropriate way. Ages 16-18 are welcome.

The American Animation Institute is hosting a storyboard portfolio night. The guest artists who will critique portfolios include Linda Miller, Karl Gnass and John Fountain. The American Animation Institute was founded in 1980 by the Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists and Affiliated Optical Electronic and Graphic Arts, Local 839 IATSE, to further the art of the animated cartoon in the United States through educational and other activities.

The new Internet protocol makes possible the "Extended Internet," with better multimedia transmission, video streaming, wireless gaming, etc. One of the participants is DARPA, the same people that created the first Internet.
