The Gnomon Workshop is presenting its second workshop weekend, running from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. The weekend features speakers in and out of the Gnomon Workshop library, presenting on subjects including creature design, Photoshop, Painter 9, Shake, concept design and poly modeling. In addition, attendees also get a chance to meet some highly accomplished artists who will take you inside their own personal projects, businesses and processes.

Following the success of the inaugural International Conference on Technology, Knowledge and Society held at the University of California Berkeley, the second conference will be held in one of the emerging IT center of the world, Hyderabad. The conference will take a broad and cross-disciplinary approach to technology in society. With a particular focus on digital information and communications technologies, the interests addressed by the conference include: human usability, technologies for citizenship and community participation, and learning technologies.

MESH, an animated film created by The Art Institute of California - Los Angeles faculty member Beau Janzen, was recently awarded "Best Animation" at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. Mesh explores the advancement of discrete geometry from the ancient Greeks to contemporary research topics. The animations takes advanced concepts in discrete geometry that have never previously been visualized and conveys them in a way that is palpable and relevant to even a novice audience.

Digital Domain will be offering a free one-week Houdini class. Attendees must have experience at a production level with 3D programs such as Maya, Softimage or 3ds Max. Student

Studio Arts of Los Angeles, CA will be host to a special group of ALIAS MAYA seminars, classes and workshops that will begin Monday, October 17th, 2005 and end Friday, December 16, 2005.

Maya instruction will be from introductory level to intermediate and advanced workshops in everything from modeling and textures to rigging, animation and more. Classes will meet from 8am-3pm Mon. through Fri.
