Scratch! European Animation Film Festival – (1st Edition) 22/23/24 June 2012 – Lecce (Italy)

Scratch! is an European Animation Film Festival at its first edition open to short movies (max. 20 min). Two competitive categories: 3d/VFX and traditional animation, 2d digital animation, mixed media, stop motion.

Out of competition category: Music Videos

The Festival will provide also free workshops and retrospectives to participants!

Scratch! will take place in the beautiful baroque town of Lecce, Southern Italy

Deadline 31st of May 2012.

Hiroshima 2012-Call for Entries!

Your entries will be accepted from February 1st to April 1st, 2012.

Competition will be held during the festival, and our International Jury Members will decide Grand Prize, Hiroshima Prize, Debut Prize, Renzo Kinoshita Prize and other prizes, which will be announced and presented on the final day. Our International Selection Committee will choose competition titles by previewing all entries submitted from around the world.

CHILEMONOS International Animation Festival

The organization of the 1st International Animation Festival Chilemonos 2012, announces the open call of its first competition to be realized in the city of Santiago de Chile.

This festival is created to offer Chilean and foreign artists and directors of audiovisual animation a professional space for diffusion and competition, as well as the promotion of national and international audiovisual productions with artistic qualities.

Chilemonos 2012 will be realized in the City of Santiago de Chile, between the 25th and 29th of April 2012.

Chilemonos 2012 features three competition sections (listed below) open for animated films and videos created before 2009.

10th Annual VES Awards

The Visual Effects Society (VES) is the entertainment industry's only organization representing the full breadth of visual effects practitioners including artists, technologists, model makers, educators, studio leaders, supervisors, PR/marketing specialists and producers in all areas of entertainment from film, television and commercials to music videos and games. Comprised of a diverse group of more than 2,300 members in 26 countries, the VES strives to enrich and educate its own members and members of the entertainment community at large through a multitude of domestic and international events, screenings and programs.

The Visual Effects Society announced the nominees for its 10th Annual VES Awards ceremony recognizing outstanding visual effects artistry in 23 categories of film, animation, television, commercials, special venues and video games. Nominees were chosen Saturday, January 7 by distinguished panels of VES members who viewed submissions at the FotoKem screening facilities in Burbank and New York, FotoKem’s Spy in San Francisco, and other facilities in London, Sydney, Vancouver and Wellington, NZ. “The standard of the creative work that is being considered this year is unbelievably high across all categories,” said Jeffrey A. Okun, Chair of the Visual Effects Society. “The judges faced a huge challenge because all of the work was so far above the norm. We’re honored to have the opportunity to focus the spotlight on the outstanding work that has contributed to some of the highest grossing films and broadcast projects of all time.” As previously announced, Stan Lee will be honored with the VES 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award and Douglas Trumbull with the Georges Méliès Award.
