Alan Precourt named VFX supervisor; Caitlyn Tomasik joins as head of production.
PowerHouse VFX is further expanding its team with the addition of VFX supervisor Alan Precourt, who joins the company after a two-year tenure at Blue Sky Studios. The VFX house also welcomes head of production, Caitlyn Tomasik, who has been producing for PowerHouse as a freelancer the past six months.
"As we continue our growth and expansion, the addition of both Caitlyn and Alan will bring invaluable experience to our team,” commented PowerHouse VFX executive producer, Ryan Cunningham. "Each demonstrates the core values of our company as well as having a tremendous rapport with the visual effects community."
While at Blue Sky, Precourt lent his artistic eye and extensive technical expertise to projects including Spies in Disguise and the feature film project, Nimona. He began his career after studying film production at UCLA by working on camera crews; eventually he combined his understanding of production with his love of computer programming, which led him to work on Richard Edlund's Boss Films and then on to Digital Domain while the VFX work for Titanic was in full swing.
Since then, he has split his time between VFX and CG animation work at many of the leading companies in the industry, including the Walt Disney Company, DreamWorks, Sony Pictures Imageworks, Weta Digital, Rhythm & Hues, and FuseFX.
"Alan is a perfect complement to our team," remarked PowerHouse senior VFX Supervisor/chief creative officer Ed Mendez. "It's rare to find somebody with his combination of on-set experience, live-action production, expertise in the art of animation that Blue Sky did so well, and a thorough understanding of the kind of VFX work PowerHouse is known for. We are obviously very happy to have him working with us."
"PowerHouse VFX is a nexus of tremendous talent," noted Precourt. "They have a reputation for setting a high-quality bar and exceeding expectations, while fostering a talented team with a can-do spirit. It's a unique place with a formidable future -- one that I'm excited to join and push the envelope of what we can accomplish together in the service of art and to achieve our clients' vision."
After freelancing for PowerHouse, Tomasik has joined the staff as head of production. Prior to her freelance work, she served for over three years as head of production at New York's Alkemy X. Prior to that she spent over four years as senior producer at New York-based commercial finishing house, Spontaneous.
A native of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Tomasik learned about post-production and visual effects at Dallas facilities, Reel FX, and Post Asylum. She relocated to NYC, “...to be closer to the action." As head of production, for Alkemy X, she oversaw VFX work on several high-profile series, including The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Fear the Walking Dead.
