Neptuno Films Takes on 'Katakune'

Child-friendly Silkworm and faithful pet Woofy are set to charm kids with new series to be distributed by Neptuno Films.

Barcelona, Spain -- A newly-signed deal between Catalan producer/distributor Neptuno Films and Singaporean producer Character Farm will see Neptuno handling global distribution, excluding China, of 260 x 2' episodes of 3D series featuring Katakune the silkworm. Katakune is an original, award-winning educational, 3D-animated cartoon series created for children 2 to 5 years old. The intention of the show is to avoid over-stimulating them at this sensitive period of their young lives.

“This series is a perfect fit for Neptuno Film's catalogue and we are delighted and honored to be working with Character Farm on a show that is genuinely good for kids in so many ways,” said Neptuno Films Managing Director Cristina Brandner. “A lot of current TV programs and video games are primarily concerned with being popular with children, but what those programs really do is over-stimulate their young minds, which can lead to attention deficiency problems affecting their learning abilities in later years. Character Farm recognized this problem and that was why they produced Katakune, with the idea of training the child to focus naturally. As a result they have developed a style of animation and look that is both unique and that is designed to help kids learn the positive values that Katakune shows impart.”

Katakune concentrates on values such as mutual respect, friendliness, understanding and forgiveness, as well as showing both the positive and negative sides of the sort of insatiable curiosity that all kids have.

"We are parents and we love kids. We want to give them good programming with great values. Katakune is our offering towards this cause." Character Farm CEO Aldric Chang, said. "We are grateful and excited to have found a partner in Neptuno who believes strongly in our vision. We look forward to sharing Katakune with all the kids worldwide."
