The longtime studio executive, who helped grow the MCU into the most successful franchise in theatrical history over her nearly two-decade run, has left the company for reasons unknown.
Alonso’s nearly two-decade tenure with Marvel and then Disney (after its 2009 Marvel Studios purchase) saw the MCU become the highest-grossing film franchise of all time. She first joined Marvel in 2006 as chief of visual effects and post-production, and was promoted to executive producer for The Avengers in 2012. Then, in 2021, she reached new heights as president, physical and post-production, visual effects and animation production.
Stepping away from superhero content, Alonso also produced the Oscar-nominated international feature Argentina, 1985 in 2022, and served as a Marvel Studios ambassador for representation efforts towards women and the LGBTQIA+ communities. Adding to her achievements, Alonso was named one of People en Español magazine’s Most Influential Hispanic Women in both 2019 and 2020 , and has earned her place on THR’s Women in Entertainment Power 100 list on multiple occasions.
We can’t wait to see what she does next. And how does this bode for Marvel Studios’ president Kevin Feige? Don’t forget earlier this month it was reported his Star Wars universe feature film project was axed by Disney.
