Korean Entertainment Lecture Series

The Korean Cultural Center and the Korea Culture and Content Agency (KOCCA), are offering a lecture series on Korean entertainment content during January and February, every Wednesday evening. The lecture series will introduce and explain more about Korean entertainment cultural content in the U.S. Every week, a different expert from the industries of Korean films, dramas, animation, digital content, comics and gaming will provide a lecture and take questions from the audience.

Random Cartoons Screening

ASIFA-Hollywood is hosting a screening of Frederator's new series of cartoon shorts with all 39 creators. The series will start on Nickelodeon and the Nicktoons Network in February. ASIFA-Hollywood members can get a sneak peek at some of these new cartoons in January at Nicktoons Studios in Burbank. Creators will discuss their short films. Food and refreshments will be served. It's the loveliest time of the year... Hanukkah! Due to a chance conjunction of the lunar calendar this year, its annual Christmas party coincides with the ancient Jewish festival of fried foods. So this year Santa's wearing blue, the elves are starting a klezmer band and stockings will be stuffed with dreidels and fried latkes.

Anime USA is an annual Japanese animation and culture convention in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C.

This year, Anime USA is hosting an Original Animation Contest. It is looking for original works of one-five minutes length in all animation formats: traditional, CG, stop-motion and so forth. First place prize is $500, second place is $300, third place is $100. All submissions will be shown at the convention. Applicants need not be present to submit or to win.
