The lecturer, David Russell, is an authority on the subject of visual storytelling. Copper Pot Pictures has paired with the Picture Book Project and Schools for Salone to hold an online art auction to benefit the schools featured in its documentary, BROWNSTONES TO RED DIRT. The auction includes over 150 pieces created by some of the top names in animation as well as children’s book, graphic novel and comic illustration, including Oscar-winning director Chris Wedge, Toy Story 3 Art Director Daisuke Tsutsumi, renowned illustrator Peter DeSeve and legendary Sesame Street puppeteer Caroll Spinney.
The first annual KidzFlix Children’s International Film Festival is making its debut in May 2010. KidzFlix is currently seeking entries for this new and exciting film festival. Submissions must be suitable for children’s ages 6-18. Categories for film and video submissions are: features, shorts, live-action, animation, documentaries and child-produced (6-14) productions. TRICKY WOMEN 2010 – International Animation Film Festival March, 4th – 8th Tricky Women is the first and only festival of animated film in Europe that is dedicated exclusively to animation by women. With its international competition, retrospectives, presentations by renowned film schools, its special programmes and its forum Connecting Animation, Tricky Women offers a unique, up-to-date overview of animated filmmaking around the world. Since 2007 it has been held annually in Vienna each March.

The Videofestival City of Imperia is open to amateurs and professionals. Registration is free. The Festival is now at its 5th edition and will take place in Imperia from April 20 to April 24, 2010. Films permitted for submission are those dealing with the theme “Tomorrow we will see,” in accordance with the description of the competition. The length of the film contributions must not exceed 10 minutes. In the case of longer films, an excerpt of up to 10 minutes may be submitted.
The Savannah Film Festival, hosted by the Savannah College of Art and Design, is accepting entries for the 2009 festival, to be held Oct. 31-Nov. 7. Featuring the best in independent, innovative and influential film from around the world, the annual festival presents a full range of cinematic creativity from both award-winning professionals and emerging student filmmakers. The San Francisco Film Society has announced that the inaugural Cinema by the Bay festival, a celebration of the passion, innovation and diversity of Bay Area filmmaking, the intelligence and probing spirit of local directors and the incredible depth and breadth of America's film and media frontier, will run October 23-25. The three-day festival will feature new work produced in or about the San Francisco Bay Area and provide a compelling window into Bay Area film culture and practice at its best.
Attention animators! The 10th Annual San Diego Asian Film Festival 2009 will once again be showcasing animated short films produced by animators of Asian ethnicities in a 90-minute all-animation program. All forms of animation (traditional, claymation, stop-motion, flash, CGI, etc) will be accepted for consideration into this competitive festival. Films by all animators pertaining to Asian issues and themes will also be considered. Only DVD formats are accepted for consideration. A Best Animated Short Film Award will be awarded with prizes to be determined.
