Universidad ORT Uruguay aims to promote and exhibit animations produced by students and graduates of animation, independent animators and international producers, and also seeks to provide a space for artistic and technological reflection in this discipline.
Since 2007 the School of Communication and Design of Universidad ORT Uruguay organizes the International Animation Festival, FIA. The festival has developed into a space where to share and exhibit animations created by students, graduates, independent animators and producers -both local and international-. During the festival, conferences and expositions take place, intended to generate artistic and technological reflection over the discipline. On previous editions FIA has received shorts from: Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Holland, Iceland, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Poland, Singapore, Spain, United States, Venezuela and Uruguay.
