The Force Is With Spike TV

Spike TV's telecast of the ad-supported cable television premiere of STAR WARS: EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH on Sunday, April 6, was the highest rated movie in network history and the highest-rated movie of the year on ad-supported cable in the key demographics of Men 18-49 and Persons 18-49.

The final installment in the epic adventure saga from director and creator George Lucas drew 4.2 million viewers with a 3.0 household rating (2,859,000 homes), 2.7 in Men 18-49 (1,493,000), 2.4 in Men 18-34 (671,000), and a 2.1 in Persons 18-49 (2,388,000).

The Force Will Be Unleashed On September 16

LucasArts today announced that its highly anticipated video game STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED will be released on September 16, 2008 in the United States, September 17 in Southeast Asia and Australia, and September 19 in Europe.

An entirely new chapter in the STAR WARS saga, STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy.

Complete Star Wars Saga Coming To Spike TV

The Force is with Spike TV this April as the complete STAR WARS saga comes to basic cable.

Airing Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 6, and Friday, April 11 through Sunday, April 13, the two-weekend event includes the broadcast premiere of STAR WARS: EPISODE III REVENGE OF THE SITH and the basic cable premieres of STAR WARS: EPISODE I THE PHANTOM MENACE and STAR WARS: EPISODE II ATTACK OF THE CLONES.

Amulet Film To Star Will Smith's Kids

As reported by VARIETY and confirmed by the comic's author, Willow and Jaden Smith are attached to star in Warners' AMULET, an adaptation of Kazu Kibuishi's graphic novel.

Akiva Goldsman's Weed Road, Will Smith and James Lassiter's Overbrook Entertainment are producing.

The story is about a brother and sister who move into their late great-grandfather's house after their father dies, and must use an amulet to rescue their mother from an underground beast.

The Scholastic series has five book planned, with the second to be released this year.

Star Trek Delayed To 2009

Paramount, in reshuffling their entire release calendar, has moved the debut of STAR TREK from Dec. 25 to May 8, 2009, VARIETY reports.

The studio said the moneymaking potential for the highly anticipated J.J. Abrams flick will be much higher in the summer, where it has no competition yet.

Industrial Light & Magic is doing the vfx for STAR TREK under the supervision of Roger Guyett, and that Paramount is also pushing back THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON from Nov. 26 to Dec.19, with Digital Domain handling the vfx.

Animated Clone Wars Coming To Theaters

Lucasfilm Ltd., Warner Bros. Pictures and Turner Broadcasting System Inc. have announced that STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS will not start as the TV series, but as a feature film this August. The feature release will precede the TV series, which will air on Cartoon Network and TNT this fall. Produced by Lucasfilm Animation, STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS will open in North American theaters Friday, Aug. 15. International release dates will be announced soon.

Perry Goes Where No Madea Has Gone Before

Multi-hyphenate Tyler Perry has joined the cast of J.J. Abrams' STAR TREK, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Perry -- writer, director and star of a series of films include MADEA'S FAMILY REUNION and DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN -- will play the head of the Starfleet Academy. The cast includes Chris Pine, Eric Bana, Winona Ryder, Leonard Nimoy, Ben Cross, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Zachary Quinto, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Karl Urban, Chris Hemsworth, Zoe Saldana and Clifton Collins Jr.

Goku Gains Romance in Dragonball Feature

Jamie Chung (TV's SAMURAI GIRL) has been cast as Goku's love interest Chi Chi in James Wong's DRAGONBALL, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Justin Chatwin (THE INVISIBLE) is playing hero Goku, while BUFFY star James Marsters is playing villain Piccolo.

In the film, humanoid alien Goku is sent to Earth to destroy all life, but instead follows his grandfather's wishes to collect the seven mystical Dragon Balls, keeping them out of the hands of evil aliens.

Star Trek The Tour Warps Into Long Beach

STAR TREK THE TOUR, the largest interactive STAR TREK exhibit ever, will make its North American debut on Jan. 18th for a limited engagement at the Queen Mary Dome in Long Beach, CA. William Shatner, who portrayed Captain James T. Kirk, is the official Celebrity Ambassador for the tour and will be making appearances at various times throughout its multi-city run.

Ben Cross Boards Star Trek as Sarek

Ben Cross has been cast as Sarek, the Vulcan father of Spock, in J.J. Abrams' upcoming STAR TREK feature film, reports STAR TREK.COM.

Cross, a graduate of London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, rose to international stardom with his breakout role as runner Harold Abrahams in the Academy Award-winning 1981 film Chariots of Fire. He will be seen in the upcoming Hero Wanted with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Ray Liotta.

Winona Ryder Beams Up for Star Trek

Spock (Zachary Quinto) now has a mother, as Winona Ryder has been cast as his human parent in J.J. Abrams' STAR TREK feature from Paramount Pictures, VARIETY reports. Roger Guyett is the vfx supervisor for ILM.

The new film will chronicle the early adventures of the Starship Enterprise under Capt. James T. Kirk, who will be played by Chris Pine (JUST MY LUCK). The cast also includes Karl Urban, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Eric Bana, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin and Leonard Nimoy.

STAR TREK is slated for a Christmas Day 2008 release.

Greenwood To Play Enterprise's First Captain

Paramount has cast Bruce Greenwood (NATIONAL TREASURE: BOOK OF SECRETS) as the Enterprise's first captain Christopher Pike in J.J. Abrams' STAR TREK, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. The character appeared in Gene Roddenberry's unaired pilot for the original TV series, which was turned down by CBS and later retooled by NBC. The unaired pilot was later weaved into a two-part episode in the first season of STAR TREK. The new film will chronicle the early adventures of the Starship Enterprise under Capt. James T. Kirk, who will be played by Chris Pine (JUST MY LUCK).

Shaun Star is Scotty, Harold Star is Sulu

SHAUN OF THE DEAD star Simon Pegg and HAROLD & KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE's John Cho have joined the quickly expanding cast of STAR TREK as Scotty and Sulu, respectively, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. J.J. Abrams is directing and producing the prequel for Paramount.

Pegg and Cho join Eric Bana as villain Nero, Zoe Saldana as a young Uhura, Anton Yelchin as a young Chekov, Zachary Quinto as a young Spock, and Leonard Nimoy as an older Spock. Chris Pine, who appeared in SMOKIN' ACES and JUST MY LUCK, is rumored to be up for the part of a young James T. Kirk.

Bana Now Star Trek Villain

The latest addition to the cast of J.J. Abrams' STAR TREK is HULK star Eric Bana, who will play the villain Nero in the Paramount Pictures winter tentpole, reports VARIETY. Bana joins Anton Yelchin (HEARTS IN ATLANTIS) as Chekov, Zachary Quinto (TV's HEROES) as young Spock, Zoe Saldana (TERMINAL) as Uhura, and Leonard Nimoy as an older Spock.

The plot details for the film are on the QT. Before the November start of production, Abrams must still fill the roles of young James T. Kirk, Scotty, Sulu and the Federation captain.

Star Trek Finds New Uhura

Paramount Pictures has added Zoe Saldana (PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL) as Uhura to the cast of J.J. Abrams' STAR TREK, reports VARIETY. In the original series, Uhura was the U.S.S. Enterprise's communications officer.

Abrams will produce the prequel via his Bad Robot company. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have penned the script. Bryan Burk and Damon Lindelof are the exec producers. The release date is set for Christmas Day 2008.

Walliams To Star in Storyman Adaptation

U.K.-based independent production company Brown Eyed Boy and animation studio Lupus Films are teaming up to produce an animated version of BBC Radio 4's celebrity improv show STORYMAN, C21 MEDIA reports. The pilot will star LITTLE BRITAIN'S David Walliams and actor/comedian Andrew Clover will take on the role of Storyman, conducting interviews in which celebrities share the "innermost workings of their psyches" through the medium of storytelling. The show features designs and animation by Airside and a soundtrack by Fred Deakin of Lemon Jelly fame.

Star Trek: The Original Series to Launch on HD DVD

STAR TREK: THE ORIGINAL SERIES, SEASON 1 will be released exclusively on HD DVD on Nov. 20 through a joint promotion with Toshiba America Consumer Products and CBS Home Ent. This marks the first full high-def launch of STAR TREK. The 10-disc set offers a combo experience with HD DVD on one side and standard DVD on the flip side.

As part of the promotion, purchasers of the boxed set and any Toshiba HD DVD player will get an exclusive, limited edition Phaser remote control that will operate Toshiba's HD DVD players.

The //ADAPT 2007 Conference has just announced its complete program. Taking place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Montreal from Sept. 24-28, 2007, an estimated 2,500 people from around the world are expected to attend the industry's second annual creative event, focused on inspiring and teaching advanced digital art production techniques for film, visual effects and videogame development. Dawson to Star in/Produce Online Motion-Capture Series

Rosario Dawson has signed on to produce and star in the online live-action/motion-capture animation series, THE GEMINI DIVISION, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Electric Farm Ent.'s Jeff Sagansky is producing 100 episodes of the three-minute sci-fi series along with LIZZIE MCGUIRE producer Stan Rogow and game writer Brent Friedman.

Dawson will star as a New York cop who, while investigating the murder of her husband, discovers a worldwide conspiracy involving simulated life forms replacing real life forms.

Alpha Dog's Yelchin To Play Star Trek's Chekov

Anton Yelchin (ALPHA DOG, HEARTS IN ATLANTIS) is in talks to play Russian navigator Pavel Checkov in the 11th STAR TREK feature, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. At Comic-Con producer/director J.J. Abrams officially announced that HEROES star Zachary Quinto, as well as Leonard Nimoy, will be playing Mr. Spock in the film.

The plot is on the QT, but it has been rumored that the story will follow a young Enterprise crew as they first leave the Starfleet Academy.
