Harvey Comics is releasing Filmation's ARCHIE and SABRINA animated TV episodes on DVD, March 29, 2004. The 240-page book contains the best of his previous five anthologies, new cartoons from the last several years and many cartoons previously only published in rare comic books or zines. Vee Pee Cartoons, the broadcast design and animation division of Virtual Persuasion located in Fairfield, Connecticut recently completed a series of "Quickie Nickies" interstitials for Nickelodeon. THE GREGORY AND PECK shorts feature a dim-witted bear, Gregory, and a wise-cracking rooster, Peck, airing in April as part of Nickelodeons Nick Toons line-up. These spots allow Nick to experiment with new and original characters, according to animation director John Siciliano.
Vancouver-based Atomic Cartoons is showcasing four new properties at MIP-TV 2003. The creators of ATOMIC BETTY (recently picked up by TELETOON Canada, Teletoon France and Cartoon Network Europe), are presenting animated trailers of DENNIS, DYSFUNCTION JUNCTION, DIRTY LIL BASTER and THE CARNEYS at the spring television market in France. DYSFUNCTION JUNCTION (26x22) is an irreverent primetime social commentary for adults about a well-to-do family that goes bankrupt and is forced to move into a trailer park.
Cartoons on the Bay, the International Festival and Conference of Television Animation April 9-13, 2003 in Positano, Italy, will open on the evening of April 9 with the Italian premiere of the Klasky Csupo/Nickelodeon animated feature THE WILD THORNBERRYS MOVIE. The film starts in release in Italy on April 18. Promoted by RAI and conceived and organized by RAI Trade, the festival is an international event with awards, workshops, lectures and events centering on the ever-changing world of television animation.
