Taika Waititi to Harness the Force in New ‘Star Wars’ Feature

Oscar-winning ‘Jojo Rabbit’ director to co-write and direct new movie franchise entry; new ‘Star Wars’ Disney+ series also announced during May the Fourth celebrations.

May the Fourth be with us all! Starwars.com has blessed us with two exciting announcements. Firstly, everyone’s favorite Fuhrer, Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, What We Do in The Shadows), will be directing a new Star Wars feature film! Waititi is set to co-write the film with Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Penny Dreadful). If that weren’t exciting enough, Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) is set to write and executive produce a new Star Wars series now in development for Disney+. This show will join the ranks of The Mandalorian, and two other hush-hush projects following Cassian Andor of Rogue One, and Obi-Wan Kenobi during his time of exile on Tatooine.

Neither of the new projects have a projected release date, but we can tell you one thing: We cannot Wait—iti!
