Aaron Waltke Boards Prime Video’s ‘Wings of Fire’ as Showrunner

The ‘Unikitty!’ and ‘Trollhunters’ writer/producer will also executive produce and co-write the animated series alongside ‘Wings of Fire’ book series author Tui T. Sutherland.

Aaron Waltke (Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, Unikitty!, Star Trek: Prodigy) has joined the upcoming Prime Video animated series Wings of Fire as showrunner and co-writer alongside “Wings of Fire” book series author Tui T. Sutherland, according to Variety.

The official logline for the series states that it “tells the tales of seven dragon tribes who have been at war for generations over an ancient, lost treasure. A secret movement called the Talons of Peace is determined to bring an end to the fighting, with the help of a prophecy — a foretelling that calls for great sacrifice. Five dragonets are collected to fulfill the prophecy, raised in a hidden cave and enlisted, against their will, to end the terrible war.”

Sutherland’s novel series boasts 15 main books, with additional supplementary material and a graphic novel adaptation.

First announced in 2021 with Ava DuVernay attached, Wings of Fire was axed at Netflix in 2022 and revived by Amazon MGM Studios in early 2024.

Sutherland executive produces alongside Waltke and Marc Resteghini for his Jack Tar Productions.
