The company has just released WithPoly, a browser-based tool for creating and upscaling PBR textures that with prompts, can create up to 8K resolution in seconds.
Poly Corporation has just released WithPoly, a new browser-based generative AI tool dedicated to generating and upscaling PBR textures.
In mere seconds, the software allows users to create up to 8K resolution seamless textures - with 32-bit PBR maps - with AI, just by entering a text or image prompt. It’s also possible to upload existing texture maps and use WithPoly to tile or upscale them. Poly’s PBR map generation tool supports Color, Normal, Height, Ambient Occlusion, Roughness, and Metalness.
According to Poly CEO and co-founder Abhay Agarwal, “Generative AI has become a startup buzzword recently, especially after the open-source launch of Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion. However, we have hard-won insight from years of launching generative AI products.”
“We want to build a tool that designers love and will use for their workflows,” he continued. “While many other generative AI applications are fun and inspiring, we think real sustained adoption comes from being a part of one’s design routine.”
The new tool comes with a free option:
- Free registration
- A free account allows generating textures at up to 2K
- 1000s of ready-to-use AI-generated textures download for free
The Poly Infinity premium monthly plan costs $20/month and provides advanced features such as generating up to 32-bit depth and 8K resolution textures and royalty-free license rights for commercial applications.
Agarwal has been behind the development of a number of AI-based tools, including Beat Sage (an AI for creating Beat Saber maps), Dream Machine (an ambient audio generator), and Lyrical Surgeon (an AI-assisted lyrics-writing tool).
Founded by Stanford design and AI alumni Agarwal and Sam Young, Poly was built to make the current manual process of creating and collecting design assets more accessible. Since releasing its first web-based texture generation tool last summer, Poly has attracted thousands of active users and hundreds of paying subscribers to its platform, with over 2 million user-generated textures. Poly’s current customers range from professionals at fortune 500 companies to individual freelancers in game design, AR/VR, interior design, architecture, and 3D rendering for e-commerce, marketing, and many more.
“Poly wants to augment the current creative process with better design assets instead of replacing them,” Agarwal concluded. “To achieve our vision, we believe in building the best possible technology since a higher quality product is required to stand out and win in this emerging and highly active space.”
