The film adaptation of ‘First Blood’ author David Morrell’s novel of the same name marks the feature directorial debut of Marc Klasfield.
Lionsgate is partnering with Jordan Schur’s Suretone Pictures to finance Creepers -- a horror adventure feature adaptation of David Morrell’s book of the same name.
Morrell also authored “First Blood” -- the 1972 action-thriller novel that inspired the Sylvester Stallone-starring Rambo franchise. The big-screen version of “Creepers” will begin filming this summer in Bulgaria, with Marc Klasfield - a music video and commercial director making the leap to feature filmmaking - set to helm the project.
“I have waited decades to find the right feature film project to which I could truly dedicate myself,” Klasfield shared in a statement. “The passion I have found to make Creepers all it can be is extraordinary, and I honestly can’t wait for the world to see what we have in store.”
Creepers’ story centers on a group of urban explorers who set out to investigate an old and (seemingly) abandoned hotel, and encounter a deadly threat -- in the form of a group of rival explorers whose search for hidden treasure unleashes a malevolent supernatural entity. The film will blend horror, thriller, and supernatural elements. Casting is now underway, as the production team preps for a July 25 start date.
