Abby Trott and AJ Beckles, the English dub voices of Momo and Okarun, take the stage August 24 for the series panel and highly anticipated episode 1 world premiere; theatrical release of first 3 episodes begins September 13 in North America.
Mainichi Broadcasting System, Inc., announced that recently revealed English language voice actors Abby Trott and AJ Beckles, voices of Dan Da Dan's lead characters Momo and Okarun, head to Anime NYC on August 24 to attend a special panel and world premiere of episode one of the highly anticipated anime series’ English language dub series.
The show is based on the popular manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, serialized in Shueisha’s manga magazine application “Shonen Jump Plus.”
Dan Da Dan Panel - Premiere Screening (English Dub) is Saturday, Aug 24, 11:00 AM ~ 12:30 PM EDT. Reservations are required and can be made through Anime NYC.
Dan Da Dan, which will enjoy a worldwide theatrical premiere of the first three episodes as Dan Da Dan: First Encounter. GKIDS is bringing the episodes to the big screen beginning September 13 in North America. The screenings also feature an interview with Tatsu and author and editor of the original manga Shihei Lin, director of the upcoming anime series Fuga Yamashiro, and the voice actors for the leads Momo and Okarun respectively, Shion Wakayama and Natsuki Hanae.
The series follows Momo, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult freak. The two of them start talking after Momo rescues Okarun from getting bullied. However, an argument ensues between them – Momo believes in ghosts but denies aliens, and Okarun believes in aliens but denies ghosts.
To make the mutual deniers believe in each other, Momo goes to an abandoned hospital known for its UFO sightings, and Okarun goes to a tunnel that is said to be haunted. In each place, they encounter overwhelming paranormal activity that transcends comprehension. Amid these predicaments, Momo awakens her hidden power and Okarun gains the power of a curse to challenge the paranormal forces! Their fateful love begins as well!?

“Getting to be a part of Dan Da Dan in any way is a dream come true,” added Beckles (Tokyo Revengers, Kemono Jihe, Bungo Stray Dogs, Bleach, Beyblade X). “I’ve been a fan of the manga for a couple of years now. Hanae-san is an incredible actor! The honor of actually being able to play his counterpart as Okarun in the dub was something I never could have imagined being granted to me!”
