With the addition of the production management solution, the tech giant’s industry cloud for M&E, Flow, will link previously disparate workflows of pre-and post-production, fostering broader collaboration and efficiency.
According to the company, a significant challenge in the Media & Entertainment (M&E) industry has been the need to recreate assets for data saved in incompatible formats, opening up the potential loss of important information in webs of files and folders. The creation of Flow sounds simple – unite data, workflows, and teams in the cloud to enable more efficient collaboration up and down the production pipeline – but delivering on that vision is anything but.
Historically, there has been a disconnect between data created on set and content created post-production, with things lost in the process resulting in inefficiencies. Two years ago, Autodesk took a step into on-set production to integrate processes and connections across the entire production chain. In the process, the company has made inroads with Moxion, exploring opportunities for streamlined connections and building workflows between on-set and post-production.
With the acquisition of PIX officially closed, Autodesk is accelerating its position on set. The addition of PIX to Autodesk will make it easier to share data captured on set with studio executives and production teams and foster broader collaboration and linking of previously disparate workflow. Connecting PIX’s production management solution to Flow will promote a better flow of data to all stakeholders and help reduce inefficiency.
By combining the expertise and network of the PIX team with Autodesk’s resources and cloud technology capabilities and connecting it all with Flow, customers will get an improved experience, including the transformation of how films and TV shows are made.
