The Savannah College of Art and Design hosts the fifth annual Game Developers eXchange April 16-17 in Savannah, Georgia. MAXON Computer's BodyPaint 3D will be the focus of a comprehensive Visual Arts Track at the 2009 Game Developers Conference (GDC), aimed at artists eager to learn how to easily create custom 3D textures for current and next-gen games. The session, entitled "Real World Texture Painting Tips for Game Developers," will be led by Kris Orpilla, a character modeler and texture artist at Electronic Arts (EA) in The Sims Studio division, where he brought his expertise to bear on the newest EA hit, SIMANIMALS.
After the success of 2008 (over 230 participants, 115 registered companies and 18 exhibitors), the second edition of the Kids Licensing Forum, an event entirely devoted to the children's and teenagers' content market in Europe, will be held on Thursday March 26 in Bologna.
The Forum will take place during the Bologna Children's Book Fair, scheduled from March 23-26, 2009. The Book Fair is devoted to the exchange of copyrights for children's and teenagers' contents and is attended by numerous professionals from the licensing sector.
Sara Berliner, who is now building the children's and teen business at ScrollMotion, a mobile content and technology company based in Tribeca, will be talking to Women in Animation about mobile content. Berliner will give a beginner's overview of the mobile space, then talk about the revolution of the touch-screen device with ScrollMotion's technologies and applications as example, and then discuss what the future may hold.

This spring, a galaxy far, far away comes to The Children's Museum of Indianapolis when STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS Exhibition opens March 23. The visual exhibition features artwork, costumes and other pieces used in the concept and production for STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS, the first-ever animated feature and television series from Lucasfilm Animation.
The Game Developers Conference (GDC), returns in 2009 to the Moscone Center in San Francisco with world-class programming for the art, science and business of developing digital entertainment.
On Monday, March 23, comics writer and critic Danny Fingeroth will give an illustrated presentation about the life, work, and influence of writer and artist Will Eisner.
Taking a tour through Eisner's life-in effect, a journey through comics history-the presentation will serve as an introduction to those who'd like to know more about how the graphic novel phenomenon (which has spawned hit comics-based movies like THE DARK KNIGHT and WATCHMEN), and will offer new insights for those who may already know the work of Eisner and his creative descendants.
The Cartoon Art Museum hosts MariNaomi, author and illustrator of ESTRUS COMICS, on Saturday, March 21 followed by Jimmy Gownley, author and illustrator of the popular comic AMELIA RULES! on Sunday, March 22 as part of its ongoing Cartoonist-in-Residence program. Museum visitors will be offered the chance to talk to the artists about their comics and watch them at work.
The Cartoon Art Museum presents "The Brinkley Girls," a celebration of one of the most popular cartoonists of the early 20th century, Nell Brinkley. This retrospective, guest-curated by comics herstorian Trina Robbins, showcases 30 lavishly illustrated newspaper tearsheets, magazine illustrations, original artworks and other highlights from Robbins' personal collection.

Sketch Theatre's first gallery show collects many of the sketches filmed on SketchTheatre.com and puts them on display to finally be admired in person. March 21 opening reception will featuring live figure drawing models, DJ and refreshments.
The 33rd Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF) will be held March 19-29, 2009 in Cleveland, Ohio.
The festival features two family film programs as well as several shorts programs that feature animation. Last year, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences designated the CIFF as one of its qualifiers to the Academy Awards.
