Starting at 8:00 pm at Stephen Parr's Oddball Films, ASIFA-San Francisco is holding its open screening. Films will include David Chai's new award winning COLE NEEDS WOMEN (prize winner at this year's ASIFA-East Annual Competition), Signe Baumane's highly acclaimed TEAT BEAT OF SEX (direct from Annecy Plus) and something totally outrageous from J.J. Sedelmajer. Gene Hamm and Don Albrecht are bringing their latest laugh filled work and they expect to show recently completed student films from San Jose State, SF State and from other schools, plus a commercial reel or two and other independent works.
Karl Cohen is bringing several animated French classics in honor of Bastille Day and more ancient animated TV commercials on 16mm film since they were a hit at ASIFA-SF's "Brainwashed" event in June. People left craving junk food no longer made and humming long forgotten jingles from the '50s and '60s.
Oddball Cinema is located at 275 Capp St. between 17th and 18th Street. It is a giant 3rd floor warehouse loft full of rare 16mm films. Volunteers needed to set up the space, clean up after the party and greet guests. If you can help contact Karl Cohen at (415) 386-1004 or karlcohen@earthlink.net.
