The Global Kids Film & Television Festival features the best in films for kids of all ages from around the world at local screenings in both Portugal and France. This year's festival features a new on-line programming incentive aimed at reaching kids in various countries to create a network promoting cross cultural cooperation and participation at the festival as well as over the web. Morning sessions are devoted to the youngest audience members. Afternoons feature films for older students. The evening sessions feature premieres, tributes and special programming for general audiences. Midnight sessions feature more controversial fare. The film competition features animation, live action features and shorts, documentaries and television programs. (The festival is partial to shorts - especially animated shorts!) A professional international jury presides over the official competition. In addition to the categories mentioned above awards are presented to a young filmmaker (1st work) and in an educational category.
