Hello All

Here is a link to a bit of video about the production of the feature film "Chico & Rita" that we are currently working on.

From the tv clip it seems that the animation is simply rotoscoped from live action, but that is not the case.
The director, Fernando Trueba, is basically a Live action director, so one could say that they made the animatic in the live action medium. I am not at liberty to show you any images, but the actors looks nothing like the animated characters, and at several occasions they swap actor for a character. I guess it's is because at some point the first actor wasn't available. Several actors also play several characters. Selected frames are rotoscoped with TV Paint, and only these relatively few painted images are directly available to the animators.

Animation is 2D on paper + 50%+ 3D backgrounds and 3D props

The film is being produced in 6 studios spread out over Eastern and Western Europe and Brazil, managed by HoBSoft.

Man, I'm waiting to see the finished product.
I've worked a bit on it during an internship in the keckskemet animation studio (hungary) (inbetween + clean-up.. with markers)

and I'v seen some stuff of it.. is awesome
