How to make a living online as an animator

By schmiddl | Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 12:09pm

Hi,
for my final exam in university I wrote a 30-page paper called:

"The Animator's Internet Survival Guide"

I researched the internet business models of successful bloggers,
musicians, filmmakers, flash-game developers, internet marketers
to create a comprehensive:

ONLINE BUSINESS MODEL FOR ANIMATORS AND FILMMAKERS

Which qualities does a piece of work have to have to go viral?

How do you find people online, who value your work?

How do you expand your audience from project to project?

How do you earn money online without relying on traditional advertising?

And how many fans do you need to finance your life?
Every aspect is explained step-by-step and highlighted in-depth
with the help of many examples. I wish that more young filmmakers
realize the enormous potential of the internet to make a living with
what they love to do most: realize their own films!

In the next weeks I'll release "The Animator's Internet Survival Guide"
piece by piece in this thread, because I've made the experience that people
are more likely to REALLY read it, when it is cut into pieces.

Read and share:

The Introduction: Call-Center or industrial visualization?
Chapter I: Your work is the foundation
Chapter II: Build your homebase
Chapter III: Find your audience
Chapter III: The Fan List

Chapter IV: Deepen your relationship

Chapter V: Fill the money bin
Chapter V: How much do you charge?
Chapter V: What is the timing of the Pre-Sell during a product launch?
Chapter V: Online Series and autoresponders
Chapter VI: Expand your product range
Chapter VI: Provide a subscription

Soon to come:

Chapter VII: Paradise
References and continuative links

Hope it is helpful!
