French animation studio's growing portfolio of family and adult titles, including ‘The Doomies,’ ‘Twilight of the Gods,’ ‘My Life in Versailles,’ and ‘Athleticus’ Season 4, take the stage at a variety of screenings, panels and talks; the festival runs June 9-15.
French animation studio Xilam Animation returns to Annecy 2024 to present its growing portfolio of family and adult titles, including The Doomies, Twilight of the Gods, My Life in Versailles, and Athleticus Season 4 via event screenings, panels, and presentations. This year’s festival runs June 9-15.
Xilam’s Annecy highlights include:
The Doomies at Disney Branded Television’s “Work in Progress Screening” June 12 screening 11:30 am (Salle Pierre Lamy):
- Creators of The Doomies, the original spooky serialized comedy produced in France for Disney Branded Television by Xilam Animation Studio and Disney EMEA Animation, will present a first look.
“Next on Netflix Animation: From ‘Twilight of the Gods’ to ‘Wallace & Gromit’” presentation June 12 at 1:00 pm (Bonlieu Grande Salle), spotlighting world-class filmmakers and sneak peeks of highly anticipated films and series:
- Twilight of the Gods director Zack Snyder and executive producer Deborah Snyder, along with Xilam Animation director Slimane Aniss, unveil clips from the adult animated series. Xilam provides 2D animation for the series.
My Life in Versailles (Official Selection – TV Films) Special Screening: June 11 at 9:00 am and 10:30 am; June 12 at 2:00 pm and June 14 at 7:30 pm (Pathe Cinema)
- Co-produced with Films Grand Huit and commissioned by France Télévisions, the sequel to the multi-awarded TV special of the same name is set in the modern day and follows Violette, who at eight years old, suddenly becomes an orphan and is sent to live with her uncle Regis, who she barely knows.
Athleticus Season 4:
- Screening in collaboration with ARTE. 7.30 pm on Sunday, June 9 at 7:30 pm (Pâquier)
- Presentation “Dancing Snails and Other Animal Shenanigans” with series director Nicolas Deveaux. June 11 at 9:15 am (Campus: Room 1).
Meanwhile On Earth: Special Screening – Feature Film: June 12 at 7.30 pm (Bonlieu)
- Academy Award-nominated I Lost My Body director Jeremy Clapin will screen his new feature Meanwhile on Earth. One World Films produced the film with animation segments produced by Xilam Studio. The movie releases theatrically in France July 3, 2024.
The studio’s Annecy announcement follows the recently announced greenlight of its new adventure-comedy series Submarine Jim, which has been pre-sold to European broadcasters France Télévisions (France) and Super RTL (Germany). In addition, France Télévisions, BBC (UK), and ZDF (Germany) have picked up the upcoming CG preschool series Piggy Builders.
