CLOUD ATLAS, which is being co-directed by the Wachowski siblings and Tom Tykwer, has gained funding from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, reports Variety. The film received 1.5 million Euros ($2.15 million) from the German regional funder. The overall budget for the epic project is $140 million.
Tom Hanks is set to star. Based on David Mitchell's novel, the story follows six interconnected stories over 500 years starting in the 19th century and ending in a post-apocalyptic future.
Stefan Arndt and Grant Hill are producing. Focus Features Intl. is handling international right.
