Toho has said that the third ALWAYS film will be made in 3-D, reports Variety. Based on the comic by Ryohei Saigan, ALWAYS: SANCHOME NI YUJI '64 (ALWAYS: SUNSET ON THIRD STREET '64) follows the life-changing events that surround the Tokyo Olympics and the newlyweds — a fledgling writer and former exotic dancer.
The film stars Shinichi Tsutsumi, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Koyuki, Tomokazu Miura and Hiroko Yakushimaru. Takashi Yamazaki (SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO) is directing.
Production is underway with the film set to hit theaters in the beginning of 2012.
