Tim Burton to Produce Ooky Spooky ‘The Addams Family’ Series

Multiple networks are reportedly bidding to acquire the new Burton-produced live-action TV show that follows the perspective of Wednesday Addams in 2020.

The stop-motion king has gone live-action! Everyone’s favorite mysterious and spooky family, The Addams Family, is reportedly coming to the small screen with famed creepy and kooky director Tim Burton attached to produce. We cannot fathom better news in the days leading up to Halloween. Deadline reports that multiple networks are fighting to secure the title, with Netflix the likely winning candidate. Burton, who may also direct the reboot, might be joined by showrunners / writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the team behind Smallville. Rights holder MGM TV has been financing the project’s development.

While we have nothing to fear with Lurch, Thing, and other beloved Charles Addams oddities in Burton’s hands, the show is getting a bit of an update. Addams will reportedly take place in 2020 from the perspective of the original ‘Goth Girl’ herself, Wednesday Addams. We guess it can’t always be the 90s in the deliciously eccentric Addams world.

While we wait for more news about the TV show, be sure to check out the 2019 animated film starring Charlize Theron and Oscar Isaac. There's also a teaser trailer for the sequel coming next October!
