Rebecca Ramsey, a producer with broad experience in commercials, feature films, theatrical trailers and broadcast media, has joined Steele VFX as exec producer. Ramsey will supervise the company's production team, oversee in-house production and manage bidding. She will also assist in new business development and will support Steele VFX's expansion effort, which targets growth both in the company's core markets-commercials and music videos-and in motion picture trailers, broadcast promotions and effects work for features and television.
"Hardware restrictions in past years have constrained our work to commercial and music videos, but with recent developments in technology, Steele VFX is now able to expand into new markets, and Rebecca's 16 years of experience in the film industry will contribute to this," commented ceo Jo Steele. "Today's projects call for a producer with a broad understanding of all mediums, and that is what Rebecca offers. She has played a major role in producing effects work for a variety of media, including some of the biggest motion pictures of recent years."
For the past three years, Ramsey has worked as a freelance producer, primarily through the effects house Hatch. There, her credits included the FILMS TAKING LIVES, HELLBOY, RUNDOWN, CAT IN THE HAT and MATRIX REVOLUTIONS. Previously, she held a staff position with Kaleidoscope Films, where she produced feature and trailer graphics for such titles AS 8 MILE, BLACK HAWK DOWN, DAREDEVIL, THE HUNTED and THE SUM OF ALL FEARS. She also produced main title sequences for THE BOURNE IDENTITY and DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA YA SISTERHOOD, as well as the new Paramount logo. Her commercial credits included spots for Safeway, Nestle, Honda and Ford, all via Dailey & Associates, Los Angeles.
Ramsey also served as vp/exec producer for the visual effects division of Todd-AO Studios. Additionally, she was executive producer of H Design, a pioneering broadcast and interactive design firm. There and at a subsequent tenure at the design firm Rezn8, she produced broadcast graphics for ESPN, HBO, Fox, FX and others. Ramsey began her career with R/Greenberg Associates, Los Angeles (now Imaginary Forces).
In discussing her new role, Ramsey said she was attracted by Steele VFX's high profile. "I see a wonderful opportunity to help the company grow and to expand into new areas," she said. "It is a great company with exceptional management and staff, and aside from the existing strengths, it has the resources necessary to succeed in areas such as visual effects for film, motion graphic sequences, film titles and feature marketing. I believe that I can use my experience to help this company reach those goals."
