Next event focuses on independent filmmakers across the globe with screenings of short films including a selection of California-made shorts and films created in Los Angeles; coming to Downtown L.A. August 3.
NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) champions emerging and diverse filmmakers and storytellers from around the world and provides a forum that recognizes their contributions while connecting them with industry professionals. The organization’s core event is monthly festival offerings including screenings of shorts, documentaries, and feature films selected from worldwide submissions followed by Q&As with each filmmaker.
August Film Festival InFocus: International Animation: Spotlight Independent Filmmakers Across the Globe!
August 2:
- An afternoon of virtual panels will precede the August 3 in-person event (held over Zoom).

- The August event features a collection of animated works from across the world, a selection of California-made short films, and a collection of works created in Los Angeles.
- In-person at the South Park Center in Downtown LA
NewFilmmakers Los Angeles highlights films by filmmakers of all backgrounds throughout the year, across both its general and InFocus programming. Filmmakers can submit projects for consideration for upcoming NFMLA Festivals, regardless of the schedule for InFocus programming, which celebrates diversity, inclusion, and region by spotlighting communities of filmmakers within the filmmaking community.
