Namco Hometek has secured the gaming rights to CURIOUS GEORGE from Universal Studios Consumer Products Group, according to HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
The game titles will be associated with Universal Pictures and Imagine Ent.'s animated feature film, based on the books by H. A. and Margret Rey. Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Jon Shapiro and David Kirschner produced the film, which will arrive in theaters Feb. 10, 2006.
"This is a new and exciting opportunity for Namco," Namco Hometek business director Jeff Lujan said. "We are thrilled to be working in tandem with Universal Studios to bring a film character to life in a videogame."
"Namco is renowned for creating unique and innovative games, and we are excited about the creativity they will bring to capturing George's spirit for gamers worldwide," Bill Kispert, vp interactive at Universal Studios Consumer Products Group, said.
Additionally, the famed chip also will be an animated preschool television series from Universal Home Ent. Prods., in association with Imagine Ent. and WGBH-TV Boston, beginning in fall 2006.
"CURIOUS GEORGE is the kind of adventurous, precocious and endearing character whose adventures make for great game play, and we are certain this project will be a great success for Namco," Lujan said.
