Miffy Headed to Germany

Miffy owner Mercis appoints German brand management and media company m4e to establish the internationally renowned brand in German‐speaking markets.

HÖHENKIRCHEN/MUNICH, GERMANY -- The German brand management and media company m4e AG have announced that they will represent all rights of the classic brand Miffy in the German-speaking territories. m4e signed an agreement with the brand’s licensor and owner Mercis bv and will help to establish the internationally renowned brand in the German-speaking markets, building on the high but unexploited potential of Miffy in these territories.

“We have made the strategic decision to position this classic brand in Germany into more of a lifestyle and infant/toddler brand,” explained Jo Daris, Head of Operations at m4e.

m4e and Mercis already have a long-time trustful partnership regarding TV sales of the various Miffy series that successfully airs in more than 70 countries. m4e’s subsidiary Telescreen B.V. alsoproduced Miffy the Movie and the classic TV-series for Mercis.

The little white and charming bunny-rabbit named Miffy was created by Dutch author and illustrator Dick Bruna in 1955 and became a huge worldwide licensing success. More than 85 million books have been sold worldwide in more than 50 languages, several TV series and specials as well as an animated family feature film have been produced and broadcast worldwide. The latest addition is the CGI-animated TV series Miffy’s Adventures. Big and Small.
