Jack Paglen in Talks to Pen ‘The Maze Runner’ Revival

It’s been so long since 2018… and we’re told this is not a reboot… the ‘Transcendence’ writer would join original trilogy producers Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Lee Stollman, Wyck Godfrey, and Marty Bowen, as well as director Wes Ball, for an installment described as a continuance of the franchise.

The Maze Runner franchise is set to be revived by 20th Century Studios, with Jack Paglen (Transcendence) in talks to pen the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The upcoming project has been described as a continuance of the film trilogy which concluded in 2018, rather than a reboot or direct sequel.

The Maze Runner, adapted from James Dashner’s dystopian YA novel series, centers on a group of young survivors in a post-apocalyptic world who must traverse a treacherous maze to fight for their freedom and uncover the truth.

No word yet on an exact plot, or whether the trilogy stars Dylan O’Brien and Kaya Scodelario will make a return.

Wes Ball, the director of the original film trilogy, will return alongside producers Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman of Gotham Group and Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill for the new installment.
